07.05.19

11.30am - Moving my things from my studio to undegun, 4 trips in total, my space is pretty much clear now apart from a few items and large wooden board. I signed the consent sheet to be photographed etc. Tom has talked to Howard, Steve and Paul about the building of his box.

3.20pm - Brushed the floor of my space, Gary has removed staples, we spent some time tidying up the walls. Moved furnitire out of my space, cleaned the pipes by the window, brushed and cleaned the bits that had fallen behind. Brushed floor afterwards.

Talk with Ryan and Sophie the prep co-ordinatiors, about what's happening and what needs doing; everything needs to be cleaned.

3.50pm Done for the day. "Let's go home, it's home time" - Ryan Saunders

Reflection...

Pleased with how today went apart from leaving my phone in Undegun. I've managed to move everything from my space to Undegun with Tom's help. The furnitire has been moved from my space and I've brushed the floor etc. All nails, staples have been removed, and dried dough sanded off. There are some small holes that need filling and closer inspection is needed.

PLAN FOR WEDNESDAY

Go to Undegun to get my phone. Go to uni and carry on with Degree show prep. Help move furniture, closer inspection of walls, prepare all walls for painting, clean/ dust hallway, begin painting.

Help Tom make a plan for now until the end of year show. When are his deadlines, do we need access to any facilities, are we restricted to working in the space, or can work for the show be made outside the uni aswell? Begin a dairy/ journal. Business Cards? To design digitally with scanned in sketches featured? Professionally printed? or by hand? Individual sketches and Tom's handwriting? Posters?

To buy for Tom's work: spray paint/ paint, accetate, glue/tape, brush pens, big paint pens, print outs, card, face masks, gloves, business cards?

08.05.19

Came into uni around 10.30am, talked to Gary, Sophie and Ryan about what's happening today and what was said in this morning's meeting. Gary has filled most holes with polyfilla, and we plan to move furniture into the end room. There were some complications as Chloe and Taylor were being a bit disrespectful to Gary in the way they were speaking to him. Gary tried to keep his cool and we just tried to move everything as quick as possible to stay clear of confrontation. We moved the big table from 47 to the end studio to begin with to allow us to fit the folding desks underneath it so to utilise the space most efficiantly.

We then finished removing all other furniture from 49 to the end room so that Taylor can move her work to 49. We then moved everything out of 47 to the end room and the corridor ready for stacking in the end room.

(Waiting for Manon and Kev to remove their stuff from their space so we can fill that space with furniture.) Tom's room is being constructed at the moment. Sophie, Ryan, Ashleigh, Julie, Gary, Rob, Tom and I worked well as a team moving the furniture.

1pm - moved chairs/ tables from corridor to back room, moved chairs and unwanted tables from masters room to storage room. Tense atmosphere from Taylor. Helped Taylor carry a large canvas into room 47. Talked to Tom about plans and what he needs to do. Rob talked with us too, also encouraging Tom to make business cards. Now to move everything from by the lift to the storage space.

1.30pm - Sophie asked if we can sort out the holes etc on the walls so we can begin painting room 47. 1 wall has been started. Sophie, Ryan, and I talked with Paul about the spaces, storage and painting etc. Spoke about clearing Becky's space as much as possible. I need to help Tom but I need to help clean too because hardly anyone has turned up today. But yesterday lots of people attended the first meeting...

09.05.19

Arrived at uni 10.55am. Everyone is busy sanding walls and filling cracks, people have begun painting and third years have begun bringing things in for their show. Painting beige walls white in the masters room. It's been decided that cleaning floors isn't neccisary and should be left until later. I went to Tom's space to help him brainstorm about painting, filling holes etc. Is it neccisary? He's still deciding. A new wall has been built in 49 and some taken down. Painted new wall, whilst waiting for it to dry I began helping Tom do a first coat in his room. Then we attended foundations show, it was very busy in there so I couldn't look properly, but I took some photos and look back at.

Meeting 1pm Room 49. Now to clear room 47, paint, fill holes and sand. Move Becky's things into box space carefully. I've let Ryan and Sophie know I'll keep painting the new wall in room 49 and Tom's room. Manon's is teaching the first years to clean floors to get them to join in. Did a new coat with the brush in room 49. Gary is upset with how Taylor is acting. Going to Town with Tom to buy black paint and brushes. Chloe's space is the back wall of room 49, she needs us to fill all the holes/ cracks, sand down and paint.

2.20pm We recieved a delivery of paint, filler, brushes and rollers. Painted edges/ corners and bottom edges of walls.

10.05.19

10am meeting with John M, 12 of us from 1st and 2nd year to help. John has spare tubs of polly filla if needed. We need to try to move 3rd years in on Monday/ Tuesday so we should get as much finished today as we can. Plan - 5 people in 47 & 49, 2/3 in room 50. Clear space and leave stuff in middle of room 49. Tom bought wallpaper paste and I've just found a tub for him to mix it in.

11.30am - just brushed the section of 47 Gary and Manon were working in and then brushed Room 49 which was very dirty. Going to check how Tom is getting on with the paste. Looks to be going well, he's put quite a few sheets of newspaper up so far. Tom's wants all 4 walls to be covered in newspaper. We will try to do it all today so it can dry over the weekend. We are going to look for free newpapers in town. We cojmpleted the majority of the space throughout the afternoon.

13.05.19

Woke up late and came into uni asap. Arrived with Tom around 10.50am. I found Sophie and apologised for being late. She informed me of a lecture with John about exhibiting in galleries and said that today we will be focusing on room 49, which has sticky notes on with jobs that need doing dotted about. I photographed these for reference. I helped Chloe moved some chairs and left over bits from the room.

Room 44 - Tom's space. The walls are covered in newspaper. they look really good now the paste has dried. Some gaps remain and some repairs to be done but on the whole we have made a great start. Tom has just gone home to get some things so I'm assessing what I can get on with. I'm going to try to fill any gaps with newspaper. Once the walls are finished the floor needs to be cleared of stuck down scraps. Filled a lot of gaps and Tom came and helped. We worked until lunch then had a break. Tom completed his statement and sent it to Paul.

After lunch we met in room 49 and spoke with Rob about progess. 1.10pm- Going to carry on filling gaps in Tom's space. Finished and waiting for it to dry. Cleaned the floor then helped Ryan and Sophie in room 49. Sophie spoke about plans for tomorrow.

14.05.19

Late to uni as I had to help in Undegun for a bit. I informed Sophie. Tom has begun drawing on the walls in his space. He asked me to bring my old newspapers in for him to photocopy.

COMMUNAL LUNCH

1pm meeting - Sophie asked me to fix/clean up any blue marks on the wall by Jenny's space. Began trying to fix wall in Jenny's space. Painted over the blue but I think it needs sanding back really. Spoke tp Ryan and he is going to help me. Sorted out the wall with Ryan and spoke about this year and next... Rob saying it's not looking good for our 3rd year, the first years can't be arsed.

15.05.19

Came in around 11am, apologised for being late, asked what I can help with. Helped clean the floor in room 49.

1-3pm Finished cleaning floor.

3.30pm 3rd year work being brought into room 49.

Plan for tomorrow - clean Michell's space - be careful with bottom of the walls and plinths. (We need more floor cleaning stuff for tomorrow. Get clean water often and wipe away dirt/dirty water with blue roll.

16.05.19

Arrived with floor cleaning supplies at 10.45am with Tom. Saw Sophie and Brogan who asked me to help clean the floor in room 6. I gave some cleaning things to Charlotte & Ashley in room 50, then went to room 6. I began wiping dust/dirt away with wipes then scraping some thick paint marks off before mopping. Charlotte, Ashleigh, Brogan and I cleaned the floor, then brought the mop and cleaning stuff back upstairs. Helped Chris quickly, he was stapling black fabric up in his space.

Spoke to Sophie about plans for after lunch... Cleaning floors in room 47 & 50/51, finishing touches to paint in 47 - Emma's space, and finishing cleaning in Michelle's space after Howard is done in there.

1pm meeting, plan - room 47 & moving stuff back into room 6.

Cleared floor by Linda's space and brushed a bit in Emma's. Howard is working in there and said we could borrow his hoover for the dust. Going to check on Tom... He's still working painting etc. In room 6 - to help Jenny. Need to paint plinths?

17.05.19

Arrived 10.30am, borrowed the Henry Hoover from Howard. Hoovered Rm 50 & 47 (Emma's space). Helped Julie clean the floor in Emma's space. After lunch I helped finish off the floor in Emma's space with Julie, Manon and Emma. Then I began to to organise/ clean the corridor. Paul said "Your hard work is being noticed."

Anne asked me to check with Tom that he's submitted his statement to Paul. I convinced Tom to stay in Uni a bit longer. Got some white paint for him so he could begin adding detail to his wall drawings. We also brought on of the old box TV's in. I cut up some card so Tom experiment making artist cards.

20.05.19

Saw Debra and Sue installing their Pilot Hole exhibition on my way to Uni. I stopped to take photos and they spoke about their work. I really likes the childlike expression, they have an interesting way of thinking and make a great team. No meeting at 1pm, Tom has finished painting the ceiling black in his space. The holes in Michelle's space have been cut out. Does anywhere need painting before the floor is cleaned?

The sink has been boarded up in room 50, now needs filling and painting. I helped clean the floors in Michelle's space with Julie, Michelle, Sue and 2 first years. Left around 4pm.

At home I looked into ordering Tom's cards or stickers but due to the lack of time the post and packaging would be too much. So we're going to hand make them, I had the idea of using a little letter stamp and newspaper.

22.05.19

Spoke with Ryan and Sophie about warning signs for Tom's space... "Graphic language"? Is it needed?

Paul asked Tom for his journal and creative futures... He doesn't have it.

I helped Tom collecting all his creative futures things together, photos from our Manchester gallery trip etc.
